Emma & James, a garden in bloom.

A wedding filled with laughter, happy tears and the softest peonies.

6 minute read

Dear Friend,

Some celebrations stay with you long after the last guest has gone home. Emma and James gave me one of those days.

Let me tell you a little about it.

They wanted a garden. Not a theme, they told me, but a feeling, the sense of a summer afternoon that never quite ends. So we built a cake of soft ivory and blush, scattered with peonies that looked as though they had just been gathered from the hedgerow.

A two-tier ivory wedding cake with delicate white lace piping, pearl borders and a cascade of blush and ivory roses, on a gold pedestal stand
Ivory and blush, with roses gathered as if from the garden.
Forever starts long before the vows, in a single quiet feeling.

When Emma saw it, she went very quiet, and then she laughed and cried at the same time. That is my favourite sound in the world. It is the sound of a memory being made.

Guests gathered warmly around a celebration table
A room full of people who love each other. Nothing is more beautiful.

With love,
