Begin with a feeling rather than a colour. Warm and candlelit, or fresh and morning-bright? Once you know the feeling, every other choice becomes wonderfully simple.

Choose flowers that feel gathered rather than arranged. Light a candle or two. And leave a small, quiet space near the cake, because that is where everyone will naturally gather when the moment comes.
